Question 4 Evaluation ; - Felicity Bearfoot-Fallon

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The target audience for our film opening is teenagers and young adults. We decided this because our main character, the protagonist is a teenage girl and we felt that the audience would be able to relate to her more. The certificate for our film would be a 15.We decided this as even though there may be some violence and some tense scenes we thought making the film have a certificate of 12 wouldn't be appropriate as it contains some violence and abusive scenes. Having the main protagonist as a young female allows audience members to connect and relate to her more.

We also did a questionnaire and found out that more boys would rather go see a thriller than girls, however this also depended on which gender played the main role. If a girl was playing the main role, more girls would more likely go see the film, whereas if the main role was a man, more boys would go see the film. Because of this, we didn't want to make our thriller seem too feminine as we had a female lead, hence why we included the idea of a male antagonist and that the girl was in danger because of him.

We attracted our audience by having a female lead, but a male antagonist, who is dark and suspicious. We also attracted our audience through clothing. Our main character is a young trendy girl, wearing converse and an arctic monkeys top, which already tells the audience what music she is into and what type of person she may be.
