7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at our preliminary task, I feel that we have improved in knowledge and understanding of filming and editing, and have allowed ourselves to explore and experiment more during the filming an editing process. We definitely have learnt more about camera techniques and angles, as well as what best fits a particular shot or scene, and how to edit it.
Pre-production:
- Pre-production is all the beforehand planning before the actual filming takes place. This consists of, location, script writing, getting together actors, a plot, and gathering equipment. We had to make sure we did this efficiently as it would make the filming process harder later on. Because we had the experience of our preliminary task, we knew how to properly plan when it came to filming our thriller opening, and this lead to a successful process.
Production:

This is a close-up shot we took our the main protagonists hands to show her trying to distract herself while she's suspicious that someone is following her.
Close-up of the main protagonist in the first part of the scene where she is talking to the camera and is confused to where she is and whats happened.
Post-production:
The post-production part mainly just consisted of editing all the footage as we had pre-planned everything else, so there wasn't any need to re shoot any scenes. We had our story board and shot list to look back on so we knew what to film and what to use when it came to the editing process, making it a lot quicker and easier.
An example of one of the techniques we used was the concept of continuity editing. We all had learnt how it worked and how to edit it so it looked smooth and the camera shots flowed into one another. It's also a really good technique to know as it makes the transitions between each shot more clean, making it look more professional and successful.
To conclude, we had researched and planned properly for our thriller opening as we had learnt to from our preliminary task. This made the process of making and producing our final product much quicker and easier, therefore making it more successful. We also have learnt more about the conventions of a thriller, which we were able to include in our own thriller opening. Overall, I think our thriller film opening called 'The Missing' was very successful as we all had the knowledge and standing of conventions and technologies of a thriller.
